While talking about girls vs boys with my two eldest today I had this interesting discussion.
Me: E is female and T is male
T: Mama E isn't female.
Me???? What do you mean she isn't female
T: She isn't a deer
ME?????
E chiming in: You know the song "doe a deer a female deer"
Me:Ohhhhhhh well yes...
I went on to discuss that all girls are females (whatever the species) and all boys are males and that seemed to have fixed the misunderstanding.
