So for the past three days we have had a salamander visit the house, he was a Southeastern Salamander, and Beth and Edith fed him roly polies, worms, and other insects. He seemed to be happy but we were concerned about his long term well being so we released him in a creek down from the house on our evening hike. Here are pictures of his release.
