So we spent the vast majority of yesterday at a birthing class at the local hospital, and it was insightful as to the logistics of where we should go and what is available to us. We got to look at birthing rooms, recovery rooms and of course the nursery. We also saw a variety of videos depicting, in detail, the various liquids, solids, and gases that can effuse out of the orifices of the female body. It was run by one of the labour and delivery nurse and it was good to get insight about how things run at our local hospital. Also the nurse was extremely complimentary of Beth's OB and what a good doctor he is. So that is always good to hear. We also won a drawing there and received 20 newborn diapers.
After that we came home for a few moments and then off to date night in Charleston. We had dinner at Hyman's, that place is just plain great. I have never had a even a mediocre dish there, everything is great, and last night they tried to bury me under a mountain of shrimp. I had boiled shrimp, BBQ shrimp, shrimp scampi, fried shrimp, buffalo shrimp, and Carolina delight (shrimp in a cream sauce over a fried grit cake).
After that we walked to the pops concert, they were showing Charlie Chaplins "the gold rush". We saw the 1925 silent version with the pops playing the orchestral score, it was great fun and there was complimentary popcorn and wine.
Beth slept as I drove home, it was a fun night. We are trying to take advantage of spring break and the fact that in a few weeks we will need a baby sitter to do these sort of things. So we are literally seizing the days, up next a trip to Wilmington!
